A lot of mixed feelings. He might throw himself into his work and make the future he saw a reality because it's just easier to deal with that than his own feelings. He is relieved to finally be back home and he does feel a lot more comfortable with himself and his decisions. It'll probably take him a while to sort of subdue the kyr/deco mentality where it's every person for themselves and it does help that Hank having gone through the same thing will know what it feels like.

And of course, Erik. Charles knows that Erik wants to stay and knows that they'd both try their best but he also knows that Erik's calling is elsewhere and might not stay. He's not particularly bitter or sad because he knows at least Erik will try to come back.
