It's important to note at this point of time, Maleficent doesn't hold grudges the way she does canonically. Yes, she was incredibly miffed about the way he reacted to her appearance, but she realized that everyone reacts to her appearance so it's not limited to him, even if his reaction was more in the unsure category. Still, he is (along with most of Kyr) part of the reason her own identity issues are so convoluted and she doesn't like that and would like to be seen as a person before her appearance.

As such, while he is brutally honest and she notices that, she's not inclined to trust him or lean on him. She does feel some sympathy about the way he goes about things and how much he clings to the soldier role, but he's an adult. If he was younger, she might be more inclined to push.

She will listen to him but she will also not budge on her own stances. She can be just as stubborn.
